Coldplay are gearing up to release their eighth studio album Everyday Life later this month, and on Wednesday (November 6) gave us a preview of its next single via Instagram. "Guns" pivots from the airy selections we've heard thus far and addresses an issue the United States has been grappling with for quite some time now: gun control.

"Here's a preview of Guns - the opening track on the Sunset half of Everyday Life," the band captioned the video, which depicts an animated shooting target.

"Take it from the playgrounds and take it from the bums/ Take it from the hospitals and squeeze it from the slums/ All the kids make pistols with their fingers and their thumbs," Chris Martin sings in the teaser. "Advertise a revolution/ Arm it when it comes/ We're cooking up the zeroes/ We've been doing all the sums/ The judgment of this court is/ We need more guns."

Everyday Life is a 16-track, double album divided into two sections: sunrise and sunset. "Guns" is the opening song on the second half. Over the weekend, Coldplay debuted the album's title track while performing on Saturday Night Live and last month shared its first two singles — "Orphans" and "Arabesque."

Everyday Life is slated for a November 22 release. Listen to a snippet of "Guns" below.
