Ye revealed the status of his upcoming solo album during his recent conversation with Lil Durk.
Footage from his video call with the "All My Life" rapper surfaced online on Saturday, March 8. In the clip, Durk asks Ye what he's been working on, and he responds by sharing new details about his next album BULLY. Ye confirmed he and his producers are making his forthcoming album in a 30,000-square-foot warehouse in Los Angeles. He also revealed that he's been working with new artists Lazer Dim 700 and Dave Blunts, who put him on to more underground beats.
Ye announced his intention to release his BULLY album six months ago. He gave fans a glimpse of what to expect from the album during a massive listening event in China last September. At the time, he confirmed the title and performed two songs from the project, "BEAUTY & THE BEAST" and "PREACHER MAN." Journalist Touré previously said Ye was making the LP in Japan and planned on being the sole producer. As of this report, there's no release date for the album.
“It’s a concept album and he plans to be the only producer on it," Touré said. "Traditionally, Kanye is the product of a team, there are producers helping him, there are writers helping him, he comes with the big ideas but there’s others in. Not this time. This time, Kanye is gonna make this pretty much by himself. A fresh chapter in his life because in Tokyo he can be who he wants to be.”
Meanwhile, Lil Durk also provided an update on how he's been doing since he was locked up in October. He was arrested in connection after authorities accused him of orchestrating a murder-for-hire plot against Quando Rondo. Prosecutors allege Durk ordered five men to track down and shoot Quando in Los Angeles in 2022. The rapper survived but his cousin Lul Pab was fatally shot instead.
Lil Durk pleaded not guilty to the felony charges. He's currently waiting for his trial date behind bars.
