Young Thug and YFN Lucci have officially squashed their years-long beef, and they celebrated by appearing on each other's albums.
On Friday, September 26, Young Thug and YFN Lucci shared their first new albums since being released from jail. Thugger released his anticipated album UY SCUTI, and Lucci delivered his second studio album ALREADY LEGEND. The two artists collaborated on two songs for their respective projects. Lucci appeared on Thug's "Whaddup Jesus," and Thug hopped on "Still Waiting." They previously teased their collaborations on social media last week after they both pushed their albums back.
Young Thug and YFN Lucci's beef runs deep. Their issues began back in 2015 after Lucci's manager, Donovan "Nut" Thomas Jr., was allegedly shot and killed by YSL members. A few years later, Lucci dissed Thug for claiming he's the new 2Pac on his album Beautiful Thugger Girls. “Pac would’ve never [worn] a dress,” Lucci wrote on X at the time. Both rappers continued to go back and forth online, but things between them escalated, especially after YFN Lucci's car was shot up in 2019. Lucci was not in the vehicle at the time, but police believed he was the intended target.
Both artists were eventually sent to jail for different reasons. In 2021, YFN Lucci pleaded guilty to gang-related charges from a 2020 drive-by shooting. Young Thug was arrested a year later in connection with the state of Georgia's RICO case against YSL, in which Thomas' death was a key element of the massive indictment. Both artists were released from jail within months of one another, which led them both to reassess their issues.
“First off, we been through a lot,” YFN Lucci explained during a recent radio interview. “Everybody lost people; we lost people. Most important s**t, we lost our time. We had to be away from our family. So, coming home, it’s like, damn, what the hell can a n***a do to bro? We gone’ keep doing that s**t and end up back in jail or one of our homies dead or one of us dead? Or we gone’ fix this s**t and make this s**t look good for the A?”
“F**k it, let’s do one," he continued. "Some people are going to be mad, some people are going to be happy. But who cares? We got to deal with the outcome of this s**t.”
