Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly has slammed Beyoncé as "artificial" and "fake" following the release of her new ad campaign for Levi's.
On Tuesday (August 5), Kelly took to X, formerly Twitter, to share her thoughts on Beyoncé modeling for Levi’s, comparing her to actress Sydney Sweeney, who is facing widespread backlash over her ad campaign for American Eagle jeans.
“This is the opposite of the Sydney Sweeney ad," Kelly wrote alongside a photo of the 35-time Grammy winner. “Quite clearly there is nothing natural about Beyoncé. Everything – from her image to her fame to her success to her look below – is bought and paid for. Screams artificial, fake, enhanced, trying too hard.”
Kelly's comments come amid controversy over Sweeney's latest campaign for American Eagle, which has been accused of promoting white supremacy. The ad refers to Sweeney, a white woman with blonde hair and blue eyes, having "great genes" as she models a pair of the brand's jeans. Amid the backlash, American Eagle released a statement defending the campaign, saying it “is and always was about the jeans.”
Support for Sweeney has grown among prominent conservatives, including President Donald Trump, who wrote on his Truth Social platform, "Go get 'em Sydney!"
On Tuesday, Kelly doubled down on her criticism of Beyoncé after facing bullying accusations.
“It is not possible for me to ‘bully’ BEYONCÉ, literally one of the richest, most privileged/connected/famous ppl in the world," she wrote.
This isn’t the first time Kelly has publicly targeted Bey. In June, the conservative commentator alleged the singer was “playing victim” after Bey featured a clip of Kelly’s previous comments in visuals for her Cowboy Carter tour.
“Here is another one of the most privileged, beloved women in the world,” Kelly said. “But [she] still has to look for the one sliver where she could play the victim.”
