Dr, Dre Celebrates 30 Years Of The G-Funk Era

Dr. Dre is celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Chronic!

Now, in celebration of the anniversary he's re-releasing The Chronic to all streaming services.

“thrilled to bring the Chronic home to its original distribution partner, Interscope Records.” Dr. Dre said, “Working alongside my longtime colleagues, Steve Berman and John Janick, to re-release the album and make it available to fans all over the world is a full circle moment for me.”

The triple-platinum album became a classic, spawning hits like, “Let Me Ride,” "Dre Day," and "Nuthin But A "G" Thing," as the Library of Congress deemed The Chronic “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant,” selecting it for preservation in the National Recording Registry.

Jimmy Iovine heard Dr. Dre's Chronic demos, and was taken aback by Dre's prowess. The album allowed Dre to shake off the stigma of his N.W.A. days and form a new west coast sound that dominated the nation to the degree that it stifled the might of the east coast.

The album focused on the talents of Snoop Dogg who debuted in Dre's Deep Cover track and introduced Tha Dogg Pound, Nate Dogg, and Warren G.

The Chronic is an undisputable classic, that gets better with every passing year. If hip-hop today is considered to be mediocre in production The Chronic is an everlasting example of Genius Hip-hop productions that should be strived for.
